Featuring a 16-gauge carbon steel construction, it’s heavy-duty and has a powder coat finish that adds to its durability. It’s what helps deliver the long-lasting and secure performance.
On top of that, the vault features an upgraded anti-theft protection system. It has anti-pry bars, interior mounted hinges, two-point anti-impact latches, and interior security brackets. The entire combination of features prevents break-ins and helps keep your weapon secure.
The lock is biometric and allows you to store 20 fingerprints. For alternative entry, the safe features a combination lock that supports up to 40,000 combinations and a lock with two spare keys.
The VT20i isn’t waterproof or fireproof. However, in the case that it's been submerged in water, you can still open it using the manual backup key. Still, there’s no guarantee that it wouldn’t let any water in.
As far as its fireproof properties, it’s unlikely that it can stand against any fire or high heat. It is primarily designed to keep your gun away from children and any possible threats.
It shouldn’t be kept in moist or wet rooms such as basements and garages. Excessive exposure to moisture will most probably cause corrosion even with the powder coating. Yet another reason why we highly recommend
dehumidifiers.
Its exterior dimensions are 14.5 x 10.6 x 3.3'' while the interior measures 13.7 x 6.5 x 2.75’’. The entire vault is big enough to hold two full-size guns or three sub-compacts. There’s also enough room for some spare magazines.
Consider the overall dimensions and see how to organize that space the best. For example, if you only store one gun, you’ll have more room for spare magazines.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much more room for your other valuables such as jewelry, passport, documents of value, etc.
Okay we get it, it's not the most affordable safe, but the level of protection it offers is certainly worth every penny. Of course, you can go out and find cheaper models but you get what you pay for! For the price, the VT20i gives you security, a bigger storage capacity, alternative locking methods, and more!
While it might not be as safe as the Monster Vault as much as some higher-end vaults, it’s durable and offers enough security against unauthorized usage.
Its series of safety features is what our team like the best when we did ran our tests on it. Though it’s not resistant to flood and fire, it’s an excellent choice to keep the guns away from everyone.
We also liked its long-lasting battery that lasts up to 4 months and takes only about 2.5 hours to recharge.
Some people have complained that using the app is annoying. We beg to differ. Using your phone unlocks a variety of different features, you can turn off the sound, adjust the brightness of the LEDs, and our favorite part - check track fingerprint scans and logs of who's accessed it. So needless to say, if you're going to get this safe, download the app!
The Vaultek VT20i is definitely one of the most popular, semi budget-friendly gun safes on the market. It’s easy to use and offers a reliable level of safety which is what people love the most.
We liked that it’s quiet (silent even) and simple to use. We’ve even simulated an emergency to see how convenient and easy to use the VT20i is. It showed impressive results as it has automatic doors and quick access with any of the three accessing methods.
Overall, it’s a good choice if you have one or two guns you want to store away. Plus, it doesn’t have any significant setbacks that would affect its performance in any way
