When you scan the authorized fingerprint, it opens automatically thanks to the compression gas strut allowing single-handed access. There’s also a backup entry via a silent digital keypad and a backup key.
SentrySafe QAP1BE is made of 12-gauge solid steel and has a pry-resistant door for ultimate security. Its overall exterior dimensions are 12.1 × 9.9 × 3.9 inches, and it weighs about 12 pounds.
We highly recommend bolting down the safe for maximum protection and theft prevention. One thing we didn’t like so much about the QAP1BE is that there is just a bit of a gap in the housing of the locking mechanism. It’s definitely not something that worried us too much, but we are unbiased towards all products we review.
Though its housing is made of durable materials, SentrySafe QAP1BE isn’t waterproof. Because of the little gap we mentioned above, the chances of water getting in there, if you live in a flood-prone area, is high.
It’s not certified as fireproof either, though we would imagine it probably would be able to withstand slightly higher temperature.
The solid steel won’t rust as easily, so you won’t notice any corrosion for a long period of time. Corrosion might appear after a few years if you keep the safe in an environment that is wet and humid, for this we've reviewed the

The interior dimensions are 9.7 x 6.7 x 2.2 inches, and the entire space is lined with protective foam. Though the foam is there for safety reasons, it takes up some more space.
In general, you can fit just one handgun and a spare magazine in there. Though you won’t be able to keep all your weapons stored here, it comes in handy in different situations. Let’s say you keep all your guns in a separate safe that’s in your office or garage. It’s great to store one of the pistols in your bedroom for some extra protection.
At one of the lowest price points when compared to the other that made our list, the QAP1BE is one of the most affordable pistol safes we’ve reviewed. It’s backed by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty from Sentry Safe.
Don’t expect it to offer the same level of protection higher-end (and more expensive) vaults give, but DO expect it to live up to your expectations. The quality you get for the money here is completely fair.
The general ease of use is what we like the most about the QAP1BE. The compression gas strut we mentioned earlier allows it to open with almost no sound, and only requires one hand to open. Parents, this safe is definitely for keeping your firearms away from prying hands, your children specifically.
The only issue we really had with this safe is the minor gap that lowers its overall safety just a bit, but this doesn’t affect the way we think about the SentrySafe.
