Pros of the GS-1

Cons of the GS-1

If you're always on the move and would like to carry your gun with you, it's important to make sure it's properly stored. Having weapons in a vehicle is a big deal and should be taken seriously.

For this reason, you need a car and motorcycle safe such as the Gunbunker GS-1. It's designed especially for vehicle owners who prefer to carry their weapon with them at all times.

The best thing about it is that it works equally as impressive when used as at home gun safe. Continue reading to learn more about this handy vault and all its features and specifications.

Measuring the Safety of the GS-1

The GS-1 is made of 16-gauge steel. This means it’s quite durable and able to withstand some outside factors. It also has powder coating that adds a bit more protection to the whole construction.

It comes with a stainless steel security cable to help you secure the vault into a place of your choice. This is especially handy when riding in a car because it prevents the safe from moving around. The cable offers substantial support as long as you install it correctly.

Plus, it features a manual lock with two dimple keys, so you don’t have to worry about any batteries running out.

Fireproof/Waterproof Capabilities of the GS-1

It is designed to keep your gun secure and away from unauthorized hands. Though it has a very durable construction, it’s not fireproof or waterproof.

Our team tested its resistance to flood and fire only to find it's not resistant to either. It WILL not protect your weapon from fire or high heat, nor would it protect it from a flood.

We suggest you keep it in a dry room to avoid any rust and corrosion. For this reason, don’t store it in your garage or basement since those rooms usually aren’t very dry. The vault has powder-coating, so it definitely is rust-proof.

Storage Capabilities of the GS-1

It’s designed to hold a double stack 9mm since it’s among the most popular weapons. Your gun will fit if it’s anywhere under the dimensions of 7.36 x 1.2 x 5 inches.

The overall space is reduced due to foam lining that’s inside the safe. All parts of the inside are protected, so your gun is secure and protected from possible scratches and damages.

Price Point of the GS-1

We’re talking about a one-weapon safe (plus a magazine or two) that offers a substantial level of safety and only one access method. For this reason, its price is solid.

Though it doesn’t offer as much as high-end safes, the Gunbunker GS-1 is also on a far cheaper side. In this case, you get enough reliability and durability for the price.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the GS-1

One of the things we did like about the this one is the overall level of security it provides. The security cable and interior foaming add more protection which is especially needed when you’re riding with guns in your car.

The main setback is the fact that there’s only one entry method. The vault has a lock and comes with two keys. The lock itself is of solid quality, but it would be better if you had at least one more way to access the safe because keys are relatively easy to lose.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts on the GS-1

If you want to keep a weapon in your car, you should definitely consider the GS-1. It’s easy to use and keeps your gun protected from scratching during rides.

Though it’s not the best safe to protect your weapon from fire and flood, it’s an excellent way to keep it away from children, thieves, curious guests, and all other unauthorized people.

It’s a rather simple gun safe that’s also budget-friendly, and TSA approved. Looking for more
